What the cardholder gets

The card email, the card page, the wallet pass and the emails a cardholder can get when their card is used.

When a card is issued or sold, the person who holds it gets an email, a web page for the card and the option to add it to their phone wallet. This article shows what they see, so you can help them.

The card email

The email goes to the recipient's email address. Its subject is "Your ClipCard (product name) from (your company) is ready!". It shows:

  • the card in your product colours, with your logo and the clips left, for example 10 / 10
  • the card code and a QR code
  • buttons Add to Apple Wallet and Add to Google Wallet
  • what the card is (your product description), when it is valid until and the order number
  • a link to turn on use notifications

You can send it again with Re-send email. See Find and manage cards. Nothing is sent when the recipient has no email.

The card page

The link in the email opens the card page. It shows the card, the title, Clips left out of the total, Expires and the Code with a copy button. The page does not show the cardholder's email.

On a phone, the page counts down and then opens the wallet pass for Apple or Google by itself. The cardholder can cancel or open it at once. A blocked, expired or used-up card shows its status instead.

If the link is wrong or has been replaced, the page says "We could not find this clip card".

The wallet pass

The pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet shows your company and product, the clips left, the expiry date and a QR code. The clips follow the Clip label and Clip amount style you chose when you styled the product. It has links to Open card and to manage notifications.

The pass updates after each redeem. When a card is blocked, Apple Wallet shows BLOCKED. When it is used up or expired, the Apple pass is voided.

At the till, staff scan the QR code or type the code. See Redeem clips.

Use notifications

The cardholder can ask for an email each time the card is used, blocked or unblocked. The emails are called "ClipCard redeemed", "ClipCard blocked" and "ClipCard activated again".

  • They go only to people who turned notifications on. The recipient is not signed up automatically.
  • The cardholder turns them on with one tap from the card email link, or from the card page: Turn on. They can also enter another email address. Then they first tap a button in an email we send to that address to confirm it.
  • Turn off stops them. Every email has a link to stop them too.
  • Staff see who gets them under Notifications in the card's details. Staff with Card actions permission can turn one off there.

If you change a card's recipient, the old recipient's notifications stop.

These emails are different from the notifications you get yourself in the dashboard. See Clip card settings and notifications.
