Require a staff name or PIN on bookings
Make staff enter a guest name, their own name, or a PIN code when they create or change a booking.
You can make your team record who took or changed a booking. The settings are under User booking settings.
Open the settings
In Settings, open Account, then Users & staff. Open User booking settings.
Turn on what you need
Use the switches in Settings. See the table below.
Save
Click Save. You see "Updated staff settings".
| Switch | What it does |
|---|---|
| Is a name mandatory when creating a table reservation in Dineout Partner? | Staff must fill in the guest name. The field is marked with a star. |
| Is a staff member name mandatory when creating a table reservation in Dineout Partner? | Staff must fill in the Employee field. |
| Require a staff PIN when changing an existing booking in Dineout Partner? | Staff must enter their PIN before an existing booking is changed. |
These switches apply to staff using Dineout Partner. They don't change what guests see when they book online.
How the PIN works
When the PIN switch is on and someone changes a booking, a box titled Enter staff PIN opens. It says "This restaurant requires a staff PIN to change an existing booking."
- The PIN is 4 digits.
- It is a code from Staff Users (Pin-code). See Create staff PIN codes.
- A wrong code shows "Incorrect staff PIN. Please try again."
- After too many tries you see "Too many attempts. Please wait a moment and try again."
- If the person closes the box, the change is not made.
