Set up a till for redeeming only
Give front-of-house staff a simple screen where they can only look up and redeem gift cards.
You can give till staff a locked-down screen with just one job: look up a gift card and take an amount off it. They see no menu and none of your sales numbers.
Create the till user
Add a staff user
Go to System → Users, click New user and set the Role to Staff. Click Save.
Give only till permissions
Click Edit permissions on the new user. Under Till, tick Redeem (Write) so they can take an amount off a card. If they should only check balances, tick Scan (Read) instead.
Leave everything else empty
Don't tick anything under Gift card areas, Card operations or Dineout Gift Cards. If any of those is ticked, the person sees the full app instead of the till screen.
What the till user sees
After signing in, the person sees one page with the GiftCards Manager name and a Logout button. There is no menu.
- With Redeem, the page is called Redeem gift card. They look a card up and redeem an amount. See Redeem a gift card.
- With Scan only, the page is called Look up gift card. They can see a card's balance but there is no way to redeem.
Managers and anyone with other permissions always see the full app. They can still reach the redeem screen with the card button at the top of the page, if they hold Scan or Redeem.
