Create variation wizards
Show an item's variations as step-by-step choices, with rules that decide which choices appear.
A variation wizard shows an item's variations one step at a time instead of one long list. You can add rules so a choice only shows after an earlier answer.
Variation wizards are marked "Advanced" in Dineout. Set up your variations first.
How a wizard is built
- A wizard has a name.
- A wizard has steps. Each step is a tab and has a title.
- Each step has blocks. A block has a title and a list of variations.
- A block can be shown always, or only when a rule matches.
Create a wizard
Open Variation wizards
Go to Products, then Variation wizards. Click New wizard.
Name the wizard
Enter the Wizard name.
Add a step
Click Add step. Enter the Step title (the tab label). A new step starts with one block.
Fill in the block
Open the block. Enter the Block title. Under Variations, use Add variation to pick variations and drag them to set the order. Click Add block to add more blocks to the step.
Save
Click Save. Every name and title is required, or Dineout will not let you save.
You can drag steps and blocks to reorder them. Use the bin icon to remove one. If you close the editor with changes you have not saved, Dineout asks if you want to Keep editing or Discard changes.
Show a block only when a rule matches
Under Show this block, choose Only when a rule matches. Then click Add rule and fill in:
- Question: a variation from an earlier block.
- When: is or is not.
- Answer: one of the choices in that variation.
Only variations where the customer picks one choice (maximum 1) can be used in a rule. The question must be in an earlier block. If there is none, the option is greyed out and Dineout says to put a single-choice variation in an earlier block.
Print the block name
Tick Print block name on kitchen ticket to include the block's title on the ticket.
Use a wizard on an item
Save the item
The item must exist before you can attach a wizard.
Switch on the wizard
Open the item. Under Variations, switch on Use variation wizard.
Pick the wizard
Choose it in Variation wizard. It is saved straight away.
The variations used by the wizard must also be added to the item. Add them with the wizard switch off, then switch it on and pick the wizard. Switching it off again detaches the wizard and the item goes back to a flat list.
Delete a wizard
Each wizard in the list shows Used by and a number when items use it. You cannot delete a wizard that is in use. Remove it from every item first.
