Set up VAT categories
Create the VAT categories your items use, with a percentage and an optional accounting key.
A VAT category is a VAT rate you give to items. Every sellable item must have one.
Create a VAT category
Open Taxes
Go to Products, then Taxes. The page is called VAT Categories. Click New.
Name it
Type the title at the top, for example "VAT 24%".
Enter the percentage
Fill in Percentage. Use a whole number. A new category starts at 10.
Add an accounting key (optional)
Fill in Accounting key if your accounting system needs one.
Save
Click Save.
You must enter a name and a percentage before you can save.
Each category in the list shows its name, accounting key (in brackets) and percentage. Click one to change it.
Use a VAT category on an item
Open the item and choose the category in VAT Category. If you leave it empty on a sellable item, Dineout shows "Please select a VAT category before saving". See Create and edit items.
You need write permission for taxes to add or change VAT categories.
