Dineout Help Center

Set waiting and delivery times

Tell customers how long takeaway and delivery orders will take, right from the Live orders screen.

The waiting time is how long a takeaway order takes to make. The delivery time is how long a delivery takes. Customers see these when they order online. You set them for each location.

Change the times

Open Live orders

Go to Monitor, then Live orders.

Change a time

In the header, use the - and + buttons next to Delivery: or Waiting Time:, or type a number. The buttons change the time by 5 minutes.

Confirm

A window asks "Update waiting time?" and shows both times. Click Update to save, or Cancel to go back. Dineout then shows "Updated times".

The times are in minutes.

The time fields are not shown on small screens (narrower than about 770 pixels).

What customers see

The time customers see can be different from the Waiting Time you set. When it is different, the header shows your time crossed out and the customer time next to it, for example "/ ~25". The tooltip says it is calculated from your waiting time and the Max sales per slot setting. The confirmation window also shows the customer-facing time before you save.

See Pause online orders when it's busy for Max sales per slot.

Do the times affect when customers can order?

By default the waiting time is counted when Dineout works out the times customers can pick. In Online orders settings you can switch on Exclude waiting time from availability to stop that. See Online ordering settings.

In the kitchen view

The kitchen view has the same Waiting time and Delivery time buttons in its left panel. They save straight away, without a confirmation window. See Use the kitchen view.
